Title: Fully Automated Installation Administrator Hashed Password Information Disclosure Vulnerability
Severity: MODERATE
Description:
Fully Automated Installation (FAI) is a non-interactive, scalable system to install a Debian GNU/Linux operating system on a PC cluster.
This issue occurs because of a design error in the affected application. Specifically, if an attacker installs a version of Debian GNU/Linux using FAI in verbose mode, the administrator's passwords will be stored in the '/var/log/fai/current/fai.log' file, which has global read access.
An attacker can exploit this issue to obtain sensitive information that may lead to other attacks.
