Title: Telnet-FTP Server Directory Traversal Vulnerability

Severity: HIGH

Description:

Telnet-FTP Server is a multiuser Telnet/FTP server for the Microsoft Windows operating system.

The application is prone to a directory-traversal vulnerability because it fails to sufficiently sanitize user-supplied input to the 'GET', 'PUT', 'DELE', 'RETR', 'MKD', and 'RMD' commands.

A remote attacker can supply directory-traversal strings ('../') followed by an arbitrary filename to the vulnerable command.

The attacker can exploit this issue to gain access to files in the context of the affected FTP server.

Telnet-FTP Server 1.0 is vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.

Affected Products:

  • Telnet FTP Server Telnet FTP Server 1.0
