Title: DirectAdmin Multiple Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerabilities

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

DirectAdmin is a web control panel.

DirectAdmin is prone to multiple cross-site scripting vulnerabilities because it fails to sanitize user-supplied input to the following script and parameter groups in various permission classes:

Admin Level Permission Class:

- 'user' in the 'CMD_SHOW_RESELLER' script
- 'user' in the 'CMD_SHOW_USER' script

User Level Permission Class:

- 'type' in the 'CMD_TICKET_CREATE' script
- 'usr' in the 'CMD_EMAIL_FORWARDER_MODIFY' script
- 'type' in the 'CMD_TICKET' script
- 'user' in the 'CMD_EMAIL_VACATION_MODIFY' script
- 'name' in the 'CMD_EMAIL_LIST' script
- 'user' in the 'CMD_FTP_SHOW' script

Reseller Level Permission Class:

- 'user' parameter in the 'CMD_SHOW_USER' script

Unspecified Class:
- uri input to the 'CMD_FILE_MANAGER' script
- 'images' in the ' CMD_FILE_MANAGER' script
- 'user' in the 'HTML_EMAIL_POP_MODIFY' script
- 'file' in the 'CMD_ADMIN_FILE_EDITOR' script

An attacker may leverage these issues to execute arbitrary script code in the browser of an unsuspecting user in the context of the affected site. This may help the attacker steal cookie-based authentication credentials and launch other attacks.

Reportedly, the attacker must be authenticated to carry out these attacks.

Versions 1.28.1 and 2.29 are vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.

Affected Products:

  • DirectAdmin DirectAdmin 1.28.1
  • DirectAdmin DirectAdmin 1.29
