Title: AVG Anti-Virus Multiple Remote Code Execution Vulnerabilities

Severity: CRITICAL

Description:

AVG Anti-Virus is an antivirus application available for the Microsoft Windows platform.

AVG Anti-Virus is prone to multiple remote code-execution vulnerabilities because of flaws in the software's file-parsing engine. Specifically, the following issues are present:

a heap-based buffer overflow due to an integer overflow while parsing CAB files
an uninitialized-variable issue while parsing CAB files
a divide-by-zero denial-of-service issue while parsing DOC files
a heap-based buffer overflow due to an integer overflow while parsing RAR files
unspecified integer-related issues while parsing EXE files.

Successfully exploiting these issues allows remote attackers to execute code with elevated privileges, facilitating the complete compromise of affected computers.

AVG Anti-Virus versions prior to 7.1.407 are vulnerable to these issues.

Affected Products:

  • AVG AVG Anti-Virus 6.0.710
  • AVG AVG Anti-Virus 7.0.0
  • AVG AVG Anti-Virus 7.0.251
  • AVG AVG Anti-Virus 7.0.323
  • AVG AVG Anti-Virus 7.1.308
