Title: iPlanet Messaging Server Messenger Express Expression() HTML Injection Vulnerability
Severity: HIGH
Description:
iPlanet Messaging Server Messenger Express is a messaging and email application developed by Sun Microsystems.
The application is prone to an HTML-injection vulnerability because it fails to sufficiently sanitize user-supplied input. The vulnerability resides in the filtering engine when processing script code from the 'Expression()' Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) function.
Attackers may exploit this issue by injecting hostile script code through emails. When a victim user tries to view these malicious emails, attacker-supplied script code could be rendered in their browser.
An attacker can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary script code in the victim's browser, in the context of the affected site, potentially allowing an attacker to steal cookie-based authentication credentials or to control how the site is rendered to the user. Other attacks are also possible.
