Title: Mozilla Firefox Range Script Object Denial of Service Vulnerability

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

Mozilla Firefox is prone to a remote denial-of-service vulnerability.

Specifically, this issue occurs when Firefox attempts to handle certain unexpected uses of Range objects. When a malformed HTML document containing the 'createRange' method, along with other operations, is executed by the application, a NULL-pointer dereference occurs.

An attacker may exploit this vulnerability to cause Mozilla Firefox to crash, resulting in denial-of-service conditions.

Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.7 (and earlier) as well as version 2.0 are prone to this issue.
