Title: RevilloC MailServer Remote SMTP Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Severity: CRITICAL

Description:

RevilloC MailServer is a mail server that supports SMTP and POP3.

RevilloC MailServer is prone to a remote buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to properly bounds-check user-supplied input before copying it to an insufficiently sized memory buffer.

Specifically, this issue occurs when attackers provide excessive data to the 'MAIL FROM' or 'RCPT TO' SMTP commands. Arguments of more than approximately 4080 bytes trigger this issue.

Successfully exploiting this issue likely allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary machine code with elevated privileges, facilitating the complete remote compromise of affected computers. Failed exploit attempts will crash the application.

Specific version information is not currently available; this BID will be updated as more information is disclosed.

Affected Products:

  • RevilloC MailServer 1.21
