Title: NVidia Binary Graphics Driver For Linux Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Severity: CRITICAL

Description:

The NVIDIA binary graphics driver is prone to a buffer-overflow vulnerability.

This issue occurs because the application fails to bounds-check user-supplied data before copying it to an insufficiently sized buffer. The issue presents itself in the '_nv000053X()' function, which is called by the '_nv000373X()' function. The application fails to check the value of the 'width', 'length', 'Xoff', and 'Yoff' variables before copying user-supplied glyphs into an insufficiently sized buffer.

An attacker can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code with superuser privileges, completely compromising the affected computer. Failed exploit attempts will result in a denial of service.

NVidia Driver for Linux versions 8774 and 8762 are vulnerable to this issue; other versions may also be affected.
