Title: Dr. Web Anti-Virus LHA Archive Heap Buffer-Overflow Vulnerability
Severity: HIGH
Description:
Dr. Web Anti-Virus is commercially available virus-scanning software designed for multiple platforms.
The application is prone to a heap-based buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to perform sufficient bounds checking on LHA archive data before copying it to a finite-sized buffer. Specifically, the problem occurs when a long directory name in the extended directory header of an LHA archive file is processed and copied to the heap.
An attacker could exploit this issue to cause denial-of-service conditions or execute arbitrary machine code in the context of the affected application.
Dr.Web Anti-Virus Version 4.33 is vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.
