Title: Mono XSP Unspecified Directory Traversal Vulnerability

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

XSP is a simple webserver designed to serve ASP.NET applications; it is implemented in C#.

The application is prone to a directory-traversal vulnerability because it fails to properly sanitize user-supplied input to unspecified parameters.

An attacker can supply directory-traversal strings ('../') followed by an arbitrary filename, and then submit this to the vulnerable parameter. If the application has read permission on the file, it returns it to the attacker.

An attacker can exploit this vulnerability to retrieve arbitrary files from the vulnerable system in the context of the webserver process. Information obtained may aid in further attacks.
