Title: VTiger CRM HTML Injection and Access Control Bypass Vulnerabilities

Severity: HIGH

Description:

The vtiger application is an open-source customer relationship management (CRM) system implemented in PHP.

The application is prone to HTML-injection and access-control-bypass issues because it fails to properly sanitize user-supplied input and effectively control access to administrative modules.

HTML-injection vulnerability

This issue occurs because the application fails to properly sanitize user-supplied input to the 'description' field in numerous unspecified modules.

Generally, attacker-supplied HTML and script code would execute in the context of the affected website, potentially allowing an attacker to steal cookie-based authentication credentials and to control how the site is rendered to the user; other attacks are also possible.

Access-control-bypass vulnerability

Reportedly, vtiger does not effectively control access to administrative modules when their URL is requested directly. This allows a normal non-privileged user to access and use administrative modules that normally require authentication and administrative privileges.

Version 4.2.4 of vtiger CRM is reportedly affected; previous versions may be vulnerable as well.

Affected Products:

  • vtiger vtiger CRM 4.2.4
