Title: EzPortal Multiple Input Validation Vulnerabilities

Severity: HIGH

Description:

ezPortal is an open-source content-management application, implemented with the ztml template engine.

ezPortal is prone to multiple input-validation vulnerabilities because the application fails to properly sanitize user-supplied input. The issues include:

- Multiple cross-site scripting vulnerabilities in the following parameters of the 'index.php' script:

'About'
'Again'
'Lastname'
'Email'
'password'
'album'
'id'
'table'
'desc'
'doc'
'mname'
'max'
'htpl'
'header'.

Other parameters may also be affected.

- Multiple SQL-injection vulnerability in the following parameters of the 'index.php' script:

'about'
'album'
'id'
'use'
'desc'
'doc'
'max'
'mname'.

Other parameters may also be affected.

- An authentication-bypass vulnerability. The 'Adminstration Area' script lacks any authentication mechanism. Attackers simply need to know the name of the script in order to use it.

A successful exploit of these vulnerabilities could allow an attacker to compromise the application, access or modify data, steal cookie-based authentication credentials, gain administrative control over the application, or exploit vulnerabilities in the underlying database implementation. Other attacks are also possible.

Version 1.0 of ezPortal is reported vulnerable; earlier versions may be affected as well.

Affected Products:

  • ezPortal/ztml ezPortal 1.0
