Title: Mambo/Joomla CMS Multiple SQL Injection Vulnerabilities

Severity: HIGH

Description:

Mambo/Joomla CMS are web-based content-management systems based on the same source code, written in PHP.

Mambo/Joomla CMS are prone to multiple SQL-injection vulnerabilities. The applications fail to properly sanitize user-supplied input to the following script and parameter groups before using it in an SQL query:

/administrator/modules/mod_logged.php : limit
/administrator/components/com_content/admin.content.php : limit
/administrator/components/com_users/admin.users.php : group_id
/includes/gacl_api.class.php : group_id

These vulnerabilities could permit remote attackers to pass malicious input to database queries, resulting in the modification of query logic or other attacks.

A successful exploit could allow an attacker to compromise the applications, access or modify data, or exploit vulnerabilities in the underlying database implementation.

Mambo 4.6 RC2 and Joomla 1.0.10 are reported vulnerable; other versions may be affected.

Affected Products:

  • Joomla Joomla 1.0.10
  • Mambo Mambo Open Source 4.6.0 rc2
