Title: Rideway PN Denial of Service Vulnerability

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

Rideway PN is a proxy server from ITServ Incorporated that allows information to be transferred securely across the Internet.

If the Rideway PN proxy server is running with the telnet proxy enabled, a remote attacker could launch a denial of service attack against the proxy by connecting to port 23 on the server and flooding it with 200 byte buffers. Once the telnet proxy service has frozen, the rest of the services on the server will also hang requiring the entire system to be restarted.

Affected Products:

  • ITServ Incorporated RideWayPN 6.22.0
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
  • Microsoft Windows 95
  • Microsoft Windows 98
  • Microsoft Windows NT 4.0
