Title: Foundry Firmware Telnet Login Denial of Service Vulnerability

Severity: HIGH

Description:

Foundry Networks produces High Availability products for Enterprise Networks. A problem exists in their firmware which could allow an attacker to deny service to networks using this product.

A report indicates the ability of a remote user being able to reboot the switch by telnetting to the switch and attempting a login with a long password. If the enter key is again pressed after the password has been entered and before the access attempt times out, the device resets itself. Exploitation of this problem could lead to a Denial of Service on networks using devices with this firmware revision.

Affected Products:

  • Foundry Networks BigIron 7.1.0.09
  • Foundry Networks FastIron 7.1.0.09
  • Foundry Networks ServerIron 7.1.0.09
