Description:

The spreadsheet in Microsoft Works is an application for performing routine calculations. It is available for Microsoft Windows.

Microsoft Works is vulnerable to multiple issues when it attempts to import malicious files. These issues include:

- an unspecified buffer-overflow vulnerability when importing '.xls.wks' files that were created in Microsoft Excel 97-2000.

- an unspecified buffer-overflow vulnerability when importing '.xls.wks' files that were created in Microsoft Excel 5.0/95.

- an unspecified denial-of-service vulnerability when importing '.xls.wks' files that were created in Microsoft Works 6.0-8.0x. This issue causes the CPU to consume 99% of its resources.

- a denial-of-service vulnerability when importing '.xls.wks' files that were created in Microsoft Works 4.x/2000. The issue resides in the 'msvcr71.dll' library.

- an unspecified denial-of-service vulnerability when importing '.wks' files that were created in Microsoft Works for Windows 3.0.

- an unspecified denial-of-service vulnerability when importing '.wks' files that were created in Microsoft Works for Windows 2.0.

- an unspecified denial-of-service vulnerability when importing 'xls.wks' files that were created in Microsoft Excel 4.0.
