Title: IBM Net.Data Buffer Overflow Vulnerability
Severity: HIGH
Description:
The program improperly checks user-supplied input to the PATH_INFO CGI environment variable for length.
As a result, the excessive data copied onto the stack can overwrite critical parts of the stack frame such as the calling function's return address. Since this data is supplied by the user it can be a crafted in such a way that it alters the program's flow of execution. If properly exploited, this can lead to remote access on the victim host for an anonymous attacker on the internet with the privileges the web server process. This may lead to further compromise. As well, under certain configurations, this vulnerability may also allow an attacker to carry out a denial of service attack by remotely crashing the web server.
