Title: Namo DeepSearch Mclient.CGI Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability
Severity: MODERATE
Description:
DeepSearch is a web-based search-engine application written in CGI.
The application is prone to a cross-site scripting vulnerability because it fails to sanitize HTML and script code from URI input before displaying it to users of the application. The vulnerability resides in the 'p' parameter of the 'mclient.cgi' script.
An attacker may leverage this issue to have arbitrary script code execute in the browser of an unsuspecting user in the context of the affected site. This may help the attacker steal cookie-based authentication credentials and launch other attacks.
DeepSearch version 4.5 is vulnerable to this issue; other versions may also be affected.
Affected Products:
- Namo DeepSearch 4.5
