Title: Singapore Gallery Index.PHP Directory Traversal and Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerabilities
Severity: HIGH
Description:
singapore gallery is an image-gallery application, implemented in PHP.
The application is prone to multiple input-validation vulnerabilities because it fails to properly sanitize user-supplied input. The issues are:
- Directory-traversal vulnerabilities. These issues occur in the 'template' and 'gallery' parameters of 'index.php'. An attacker can supply directory-traversal strings ( '../') followed by an arbitrary filename, and submit this to the application through a vulnerable parameter. If the application has read permission on the file, it returns it to the attacker.
An attacker can exploit the directory-traversal vulnerabilities to retrieve arbitrary files from the vulnerable system in the context of the webserver process.
- A cross-site scripting vulnerability. This issue affects the 'template' parameter of 'index.php'. An attacker may leverage this issue to have arbitrary script code executed in the browser of an unsuspecting user in the context of the affected site. This may help the attacker steal cookie-based authentication credentials and launch other attacks.
