Title: 0verkill UDP Datagram Remote Denial of Service Vulnerability
Severity: MODERATE
Description:
0verkill is a text-based multiplayer game. It is available for many platforms including UNIX, Linux, Microsoft Windows, and others.
A denial-of-service vulnerability affects 0verkill because it fails to properly handle certain UDP datagrams.
This issue is due to an integer-overflow flaw in the 'recv_packet()' function that results in an attempt to access unallocated memory.
The vulnerability allows remote attackers from external networks to crash the application, denying further service to legitimate users.
0verkill version 0.16 is vulnerable to this issue; other versions may also be affected.
Affected Products:
- 0verkill 0verkill 0.16.0
