Title: Qbik WinGate Remote HTTP Request Buffer Overflow Vulnerability
Severity: CRITICAL
Description:
Qbik WinGate is a Windows-based proxy server for sharing Internet connections.
Qbik WinGate is prone to a remote buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to properly bounds-check user-supplied input before copying it to an insufficiently sized memory buffer.
This issue presents itself when the proxy tries to process HTTP requests that contain excessively long URI host strings of approximately 2000 bytes of data. This causes an internal memory buffer to be overrun, writing attacker-supplied data to adjacent memory regions. This allows attackers to influence the program's flow of execution.
This issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary machine code in the context of affected proxy servers. This facilitates the remote compromise of affected computers. Failed exploit attempts will crash the proxy server, denying service to legitimate users.
Version 6.1.1.1077 is vulnerable to this issue; other versions may also be affected.
Affected Products:
- Qbik WinGate 6.1.1 .1077
