Title: MySQL Mysql_real_escape Function SQL Injection Vulnerability
Severity: HIGH
Description:
MySQL is a freely available, multithreaded, multiuser Database Management System (DBMS).
MySQL is prone to an SQL-injection vulnerability. The application fails to properly sanitize user-supplied input before using it in an SQL query. Specifically, there is a weakness in parsing certain characters in the 'mysql_real_escape()' function.
This vulnerability could permit remote attackers to pass malicious input to database queries, resulting in the modification of query logic or other attacks.
A successful exploit could allow an attacker to compromise an application using a vulnerable database or to compromise the database itself.
MySQL versions prior to 5.0.22-1-0.1 and prior to 4.1.20 are vulnerable. Other versions may also be affected.
