Title: Etype Eserv Multiple Input Validation Vulnerabilities

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

Eserv is an IMAP and HTTP server available for the Microsoft Windows platform.

Eserv is prone to multiple input-validation vulnerabilities.

- Multiple directory-traversal vulnerabilities. These issues can be exploited to read other users' email messages, create and rename directories, and delete arbitrary empty directories. These issues affect the following commands of the IMAP service:

CREATE
SELECT
DELETE
RENAME
COPY
APPEND

- A code-disclosure vulnerability. This issue is due to a failure in the application to properly sanitize user-supplied input of dot and slash characters. A specially crafted GET request can trick the application into returning the source code of 'php' and 'pl' type files, rather than simply process the file and serve it.

These issues affect version 3.25; other versions may also be vulnerable.

Affected Products:

  • Etype Eserv 3.0.0
  • Etype Eserv 3.25
