Title: Pragma FortressSSH SSH_MSG_KEXINIT Remote Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Severity: CRITICAL

Description:

FortressSSH is an SSH server for Microsoft Windows platforms.

A remote buffer-overflow vulnerability exists in FortressSSH.

The source of the vulnerability is insufficient bounds-checking of data supplied in 'SSH_MSG_KEXINIT' messages by a client. The issue arises when the server logs a malicious message.

This vulnerability may permit remote code execution in vulnerable servers and may lead to a remote compromise. Presumably, a successful attack may result in a complete compromise resulting in SYSTEM access.

FortressSSH 4.0.7.20 is reported to be vulnerable. Other versions may be affected as well.

Affected Products:

  • Pragma Systems FortressSSH 4.0.7.20
