Dantz Retrospect Backup Client is a network-backup client for Microsoft Windows, Linux, UNIX, and Apple OS X platforms.
Dantz Retrospect Backup Client is prone to a remote buffer-overflow vulnerability. The application fails to properly bounds-check user-supplied input before copying it to an insufficiently sized memory buffer.
This issue occurs because of a flaw when the application tries to handle unspecified network traffic.
This issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary machine code in the context of the affected application. Failed exploit attempts will likely crash the application, denying further service to legitimate users.
