Title: Servant Salamander UnaceV2.DLL Buffer Overflow Vulnerability
Severity: HIGH
Description:
Servant Salamander is a small and fast two-pane file manager with open plugin architecture. The ability to view content of files (text, html, over 40 picture formats, mp3), support for archives (zip, rar, arj, cab, tar/gzip, etc.) and intuitive user interface that is easier to learn and use, makes it widely popular substitute for Windows Explorer.
Servant Salamander is susceptible to a filename buffer-overflow vulnerability. The application fails to properly bounds-check user-supplied data before copying it into an insufficiently sized memory buffer.
This issue occurs in the 'unacev2.dll' file, due to the improper bounds-checking of the filename argument specified in an ACE archive file.
This issue allows attackers to execute arbitrary machine code in the context of users running the affected application.
Affected Products:
- Servant Salamander 2.0
- Servant Salamander 2.5 beta 11
