Title: Microsoft Outlook Express Windows Address Book File Parsing Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Severity: HIGH

Description:

Windows Address Book files are used to store contact information.

Microsoft Outlook Express is prone to a remote buffer-overflow vulnerability. This issue arises because the application fails to perform boundary checks prior to copying user-supplied data into sensitive process buffers.

Specifically, this vulnerability presets itself when the application processes a specially crafted Windows Address Book (.wab) file containing Unicode strings with a modified length value. A malicious attacker-supplied file containing excessive data may result in an overflow condition and lead to process memory corruption.

An attacker may exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code in the context of a user running the vulnerable application. This may result in a remote compromise.
