Title: Woltlab Burning Board Class_DB_MySQL.PHP Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

Woltlab Burning Board is a free web-based bulletin-board package based on PHP and MySQL.

Woltlab Burning Board is prone to a cross-site scripting vulnerability. This issue is due to a lack of proper sanitization of user-supplied input.

The 'errormsg' variable in the 'wbb/acp/lib/class_db_mysql.php' script is not properly sanitized. Data supplied to this variable will be included in error output, effectively allowing an attacker to submit hostile HTML and script code through a malicious URI. This can be triggered when a script outputs an SQL error.

An attacker may leverage this issue to have arbitrary script code executed in the browser of an unsuspecting user in the context of the affected site. This may facilitate the theft of cookie-based authentication credentials as well as other attacks.

Affected Products:

  • Woltlab Burning Board 2.3.4
