Title: Monotone MT File Arbitrary Code Execution Vulnerability
Severity: MODERATE
Description:
Monotone is a version control system released under the GNU GPL.
Monotone is prone to an arbitrary code execution vulnerability. This issue is due to a design error in the application.
The problem occurs when a user creates a file in a directory named 'mt'. When the file is checked out by the application, it improperly copies it to the 'MT' bookkeeping directory. Any further Monotone commands run inside of the working copy will utilize this attacker-supplied file.
An attacker must have the permissions necessary to commit changes to exploit this vulnerability.
An attacker can exploit this issue to have arbitrary Lua code executed in the context of the victim user running the affected application.
This issue only affects Monotone on case-insensitive filesystems such as Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac OS X.

- Monotone Monotone 0.25
