Title: RevilloC MailServer Remote Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Severity: HIGH

Description:

RevilloC MailServer is a mail server that supports SMTP and POP3.

RevilloC MailServer is prone to a remote buffer-overflow vulnerability. This issue arises because the application fails to perform boundary checks before copying user-supplied data into sensitive process buffers.

Specifically, the vulnerability presents itself when the application handles an excessive value supplied through the 'USER' command. A successful attack can result in memory corruption as a finite-sized buffer is overflowed. This can facilitate a remote compromise due to arbitrary code execution.

RevilloC MailServer 1.21 is reported affected, but other versions may be vulnerable as well.

Affected Products:

  • RevilloC MailServer 1.21
