Title: STLPort Library Multiple Buffer Overflow Vulnerabilities

Severity: HIGH

Description:

STLport is a freely available, open-source C++ Standard Template Library (STL).

The STLport library is susceptible to multiple buffer-overflow vulnerabilities. The library fails to properly bound-check user-supplied input before copying it to insufficiently sized memory buffers.

The first issues are due to several incorrectly bounded uses of the 'strcpy()' function in the 'src/c_locale_glibc/c_locale_glibc2.c' source file.

Further issues are in the 'src/num_put_float.cpp' source file. These issues are due to improperly bounded uses of static buffers.

These issues may allow attackers to execute arbitrary machine code in the context of applications that use the library. Depending on the nature of the applications using the library, these issues may be locally or remotely exploited. Failed exploit attempts may crash affected applications.

STLport versions prior to 5.0.2 are affected by these issues.

Affected Products:

  • STLport STLport 5.0.0
  • STLport STLport 5.0.1
