Title: SUSE CASA Pam_Micasa Remote Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Severity: CRITICAL

Description:

Common Authentication Service Adapter (CASA) provides a common infrastructure for client authentication.

SUSE CASA is prone to a remote buffer-overflow vulnerability. This issue arises because the application fails to perform boundary checks before copying user-supplied data into sensitive process buffers.

Specifically, the vulnerability affects the 'pam_micasa' authentication module. The vendor has reported that this issue can allow remote attackers to gain superuser privileges to a vulnerable computer by executing arbitrary code.

Affected Products:

  • S.u.S.E. Novell Linux Desktop 9.0.0
  • S.u.S.E. Open-Enterprise-Server 9.0.0
