Title: CherryPy StaticFilter Directory Traversal Vulnerability

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

CherryPy is an object-oriented development framework for web applications; it is written in Python.

CherryPy is prone to a directory-traversal vulnerability. This issue is due to a failure in the application to properly sanitize user-supplied input.

This issue presents itself in the 'staticfilter' functionality of the framework.

An attacker can exploit this vulnerability to retrieve arbitrary files from the vulnerable system in the context of the webserver process. Information obtained may aid in further attacks.

Versions prior to 2.1.1 are vulnerable.
