Title: MyBB UserCP2.PHP Referer Header HTML Injection Vulnerability

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

MyBB is a bulletin-board application implemented in PHP.

MyBB is prone to an HTML-injection vulnerability. This issue is due to a lack of proper sanitization of user-supplied input before using it in dynamically generated content. Specifically, the HTTP referer header passed to the 'url' parameter of 'usercp2.php' is not properly sanitized.

Attacker-supplied HTML and script code would be executed in the context of the affected website, potentially allowing for theft of cookie-based authentication credentials. An attacker could also exploit this issue to control how the site is rendered to the user; other attacks are also possible.

Affected Products:

  • MyBulletinBoard MyBulletinBoard 1.2
