Title: PHPBook Mail Field PHP Code Injection Vulnerability

Severity: HIGH

Description:

phpBook is a Web-based guestbook application that is implemented in PHP.

phpBook is prone to a vulnerability that may let remote attackers inject arbitrary PHP code into the application. This code may then be executed by visiting pages that include the injected code.

The source of the vulnerability is that the application will store data supplied to the '$mail' variable in a local PHP script. This data is not sanitized and therefore may potentially contain literal code that will be included directly in the PHP script.

Successful exploitation will permit execution of PHP code in the context of the Web server that is hosting the application.

Affected Products:

  • phpBook phpBook 1.0.0
  • phpBook phpBook 1.1.0
  • phpBook phpBook 1.2.0
  • phpBook phpBook 1.3.0
  • phpBook phpBook 1.3.2
