Title: IBM AIX GetShell and GetCommand File Enumeration Vulnerability

Severity: LOW

Description:

IBM AIX is prone to a local vulnerability that affects the getShell and getCommand utilities used by Web-based System Manager (WebSM). These utilities are shipped as part of the 'sysmgt.websm.apps' fileset.

This issue may let local attackers enumerate the existence of files on the computer that they wouldn't ordinarily be able to see. The local attacker may use getCommand to determine if a file exists, as the command will return nothing if the file exists and will return an error message if the file does not exist.

Affected Products:

  • IBM AIX 5.3
  • IBM AIX 5.3.0 L
