Title: Golden FTP Server APPE Command Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Severity: HIGH

Description:

Golden FTP Server is a FTP server application for the Microsoft Windows operating system.

Golden FTP Server is prone to a remote buffer overflow vulnerability. This issue is due to a failure in the application to perform proper bounds checks on user supplied data before using it in a finite sized buffer.

The issue occurs when the application accepts an 'APPE' command and handles an excessively long argument.

An attacker can exploit this issue to crash the server resulting in a denial of service to legitimate users. Arbitrary code execution may also be possible, which may facilitate a complete compromise of the underlying system.

Affected Products:

  • Golden FTP Server Golden FTP Server 1.92.0
