Title: Oracle Application Server Discussion Forum Portlet Multiple Remote Vulnerabilities
Severity: MODERATE
Description:
Oracle Application Server Discussion Forum Portlet is a Web based application. It is intended to be used with Oracle Application Server.
Oracle Application Server Discussion Forum Portlet is affected by multiple remote vulnerabilities. These issues arise from insufficient sanitization of user-supplied data.
The following specific vulnerabilities were identified:
The application is prone to a cross-site scripting vulnerability. This issue is due to a failure in the application to properly sanitize user-supplied input to the 'RowKeyValue' parameter. An attacker may leverage this issue to have arbitrary script code executed in the browser of an unsuspecting user in the context of the affected site. This may facilitate the theft of cookie-based authentication credentials as well as other attacks.
Discussion Forum Portlet is also affected by multiple HTML injection vulnerabilities. These issues are due to a failure in the application to properly sanitize user-supplied input before using it in dynamically generated content. Specifically, these issues affect various fields of forum articles including 'title' and 'content'. Attacker-supplied HTML and script code would be executed in the context of the affected Web site, potentially allowing for theft of cookie-based authentication credentials. An attacker may also exploit these issues to control how the site is rendered to the user; other attacks are also possible.
The application is vulnerable to a source code disclosure vulnerability as well. This issue may be exploited by issuing an HTTP GET request and specifying the name of a script appended by a NULL byte through the 'df_next_page' parameter. Reports indicate that the application discloses the source code of the target script when handling such requests. Information gathered through the exploitation of this issue may aid on other attacks.
All versions of Oracle Application Server Discussion Forum Portlet are considered to be vulnerable. It should be noted that Oracle Application Server Discussion Forum Portlet is not meant to be used in a production environment.
