Title: QNX Phgrafx Local Buffer Overflow Vulnerability
Severity: HIGH
Description:
QNX is a real-time operating system available both freely and for commercial use. It is distributed and maintained by QNX Software Systems Limited. phgrafx is a graphical display configuration utility for QNX.
QNX phgrafx is prone to a local buffer overflow vulnerability. This issue presents itself when the phgrafx application processes excessive data supplied through the command line. An attacker supplies data containing replacement memory addresses and arbitrary machine code to the affected application to corrupt process memory and execute code.
Reports indicate that the affected utility has setuid-superuser privileges, which allows a successful attack to result in arbitrary machine code execution with superuser privileges.
QNX 6.3.0 is reportedly vulnerable, however, it is possible that other versions are affected as well.
Affected Products:
- QNX RTOS 6.3.0
