Title: F-Secure Anti-Virus Gatekeeper and Gateway for Linux Local Privilege Escalation Vulnerability

Severity: HIGH

Description:

F-Secure Anti-Virus Internet Gatekeeper for Linux and F-Secure Anti-Virus Linux Gateway are designed for gateway-deployed content-filtering to protect against various malware.

F-Secure Anti-Virus products are prone to a local privilege-escalation vulnerability because of insecure setuid-superuser binary permissions.

Specifically, the '/opt/f-secure/fsigk/cgi/*suid.cgi' and '/home/virusgw/cgi/*suid.cgi' paths contain setuid-superuser executables with world-executable permissions. These binaries allow local users to execute arbitrary commands with superuser privileges.

Exploiting this vulnerability allows local attackers to gain superuser privileges, leading to a complete compromise of the affected computer.

Affected Products:

  • F-Secure Anti-Virus for Linux Gateways
  • F-Secure Internet Gatekeeper for Linux
