Title: Chipmunk Multiple Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerabilities

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

Chipmunk Forum is a web-based forum application written in PHP. Chipmunk Topsites is a webpage-ranking system written in PHP. Chipmunk Directory is a link-indexing script written in PHP.

These Chipmunk applications are prone to multiple cross-site scripting vulnerabilities. These issues are due to a lack of proper sanitization of user-supplied input.

The following script and parameter groups are affected:

board/newtopic.php : forumID
board/quote.php : forumID
board/index.php : forumID
board/reply.php : forumID
board/edit.php : forumID, ID
topsites/recommend.php : ID
directory/recommend.php : entryID

An attacker may leverage these issues to have arbitrary script code execute in the browser of an unsuspecting user in the context of the affected site. This may help the attacker steal cookie-based authentication credentials and launch other attacks.

Affected Products:

  • Chipmunk PHP Scripts Chipmunk Directory
  • Chipmunk PHP Scripts Chipmunk Forum
  • Chipmunk PHP Scripts Chipmunk Topsites
