Title: PHPWebSite Search Module SQL Injection Vulnerability

Severity: HIGH

Description:

phpWebSite is a freely available, open source portal content management system implemented in PHP. It is available for Unix, Linux, and Microsoft operating environments.

phpWebSite is prone to an SQL injection vulnerability. This issue is due to a failure in the application to properly sanitize user-supplied input to the search module before using it in an SQL query.

This vulnerability could permit remote attackers to pass malicious input to database queries, resulting in modification of query logic or other attacks.

Successful exploitation could result in a compromise of the application, disclosure or modification of data, or may permit an attacker to exploit vulnerabilities in the underlying database implementation.

The vendor has released the patch phpwebsite_security_patch_20051202.tgz addressing this issue.

This vulnerability was originally believed to be related to to BID 14172 (PHPWebSite Index.PHP Multiple SQL Injection Vulnerabilities) but is a seperate issue.
