Title: Hesk Session ID Authentication Bypass Vulnerability

Severity: HIGH

Description:

Hesk is a free helpdesk application written in PHP.

Hesk is prone to an authentication bypass vulnerability.

The problem is due to a failure in the application to properly validate the 'PHPSESSID' parameter supplied as part of the HTTP Header. An attacker can supply a random Session ID to 'admin.php' and subsequently use that ID to gain access to 'admin_main.php', the administrative control panel.

Successful exploitation will grant an attacker administrative access to the application. This can lead to unauthorized access of sensitive data, modification of helpdesk data and program code, and other types of attacks.

Affected Products:

  • Hesk Hesk 0.92.0
  • Hesk Hesk 0.93.0
