Title: Distributed Checksum ClearingHouse DCCIFD Denial Of Service Vulnerability
Severity: MODERATE
Description:
Distributed Checksum ClearingHouse (DCC) is an anti-spam content filter. 'Dccifd', a subcomponent of DCC, is a daemon program connecting spam filters such as SpamAssassin to the DCC server.
DCC is prone to a remote denial of service vulnerability. This issue is due to a failure in the application to properly handle malformed messages when configured as a proxy. The 'Dccifd' crashes when an email message does not contain a body.
A remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability to cause the affected application to crash, resulting in a denial of service to legitimate users. As the software is an anti-spam content filter, this may have other repercussions to the system.
