Title: Ragnarok Online Control Panel Authentication Bypass Vulnerability
Severity: MODERATE
Description:
Ragnarok Online Control Panel (ROCP) is prone to a vulnerability that may let remote attackers bypass user authentication. This issue is related to how PHP variables are handled, letting an attacker influence a variable that is used to check user authentication.
The source of the issue is that the CHECK_AUTH function is called using a variable that may be influenced by the remote user. This function will be called when the user attempts to access administrative facilities such as 'account_manage.php', 'char_manage.php', and 'privileges.php'. Specifically, the $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] PHP variable is used as the argument for authentication checking. However, since this variable is derived from the URI of a remote Web request, it is possible to influence it in a manner that will let a remote user bypass authentication.
The attacker can influence $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] by including the name of the script they want to access in the URI path. This is due to how some Web server implementations may define the PHP $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] variable. This issue may be exclusive to sites hosting ROCP with Apache Web server. This has not been confirmed.
Exploitation could yield administrative access to the ROCP site.
