Title: Ipswitch WhatsUp Professional LOGIN.ASP SQL Injection Vulnerability
Severity: HIGH
Description:
Ipswitch WhatsUp Professional is a network monitoring and management application for the Microsoft Windows platform. The application is shipped with a Web-based front end that is disabled by default.
WhatsUp Professional is prone to an SQL injection vulnerability affecting its Web-based front end. This issue is due to a failure in the application to properly sanitize user-supplied input to the 'password' and 'User Name' fields of 'login.asp' script before using it in an SQL query.
This vulnerability could permit remote attackers to pass malicious input to database queries, resulting in modification of query logic or other attacks.
Successful exploitation could result in a compromise of the application, disclosure or modification of data, or may permit an attacker to exploit vulnerabilities in the underlying database implementation. It should be noted that an attacker can gain unauthorized administrative access to an affected site by exploiting this issue.
