Title: FusionBB Multiple Input Validation Vulnerabilities

Severity: HIGH

Description:

FusionBB is a bulletin board application implemented in PHP.

FusionBB is affected by multiple vulnerabilities. These issues arise due to a failure of the application to properly sanitize user-supplied input.

The following specific vulnerabilities were identified:

The application is affected by a local file include vulnerability. The problem presents itself when an attacker passes the location of a potentially malicious local script through the 'language' variable. The attacker can also supply directory traversal sequences appended with a NULL byte to access arbitrary scripts on a computer.

The attacker may leverage this issue to execute arbitrary server-side script code that resides on an affected computer with the privileges of the Web server process. This may potentially facilitate unauthorized access.

FusionBB is prone to multiple SQL injection vulnerabilities as well. These issues are due to a failure in the application to properly sanitize user-supplied input before using it in SQL queries.

The first issue arises in the 'insertUser()' function when an attacker attempts to register a user and supplies malicious SQL through the 'username' field.

The second SQL injection vulnerability may be exploited by supplying malicious SQL through the 'bb_session_id' value of a cookie. This vulnerability can allow an attacker to gain unauthorized access to a bulletin board.

SQL injection vulnerabilities could result in a compromise of the application, disclosure or modification of data, or may permit an attacker to exploit vulnerabilities in the underlying database implementation.
