Title: e107 ePing Remote Command Execution Vulnerability

Severity: HIGH

Description:

e107 Website System is a web based content management system implemented in PHP. ePing is a plug-in for e107 Website System, which is used to call a Ping from a Windows/Linux Shell and display the output into an IFRAME.

ePing is prone to a remote command execution vulnerability. This issue is due to a failure in the application to properly sanitize user-supplied input by the 'eping_validaddr()' function.

Specifically, user-supplied input to the 'eping_cmd', 'eping_host', and 'eping_count' parameters of the 'doping.php' is not properly sanitized before being passed to the 'system()' function.

Due to this, an attacker can supply arbitrary shell commands and have them executed in the context of the server. This can facilitate various attacks including unauthorized access to an affected computer.

Affected Products:

  • e107.org ePing 1.0.01
  • e107.org ePing 1.0.02
