Description:
602 Lan Suite is an all-in-one server application that includes HTTP, FTP, telnet, SOCKS and RealAudio proxy services and provides Web-Mail, SMTP and POP services. The software is maintained by Software602 for Microsoft Windows platforms.
602 LAN Suite 2004 is reported prone to a directory traversal vulnerability. This issue results from insufficient sanitization of user-supplied data.
It is reported that an attacker can exploit this issue to detect the presence of files on a computer and potentially cause a denial of service condition.
Exploitation involves sending a URI request containing '../' directory traversal sequences as a value for the 'A' parameter of the 'mail' script.
A successful attack may aid in further attacks against the system or lead to a crash due to resource exhaustion. This would occur in the context of the application.
