Title: Oracle 10g DBMS_Scheduler Privilege Escalation Vulnerability

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

Oracle database is prone to a privilege escalation vulnerability.

A user with 'create job' privileges can switch the 'session_user' to 'SYS'. This procedure is often used in conjunction with VPD (Virtual Private Database) or OLS (Oracle Label Security) and could be manipulated to escalate privileges.

Through manipulation of the 'run_job' function of 'dbms_scheduler' an attacker can switch the 'session_user' privileges.

This issue may cause other conflicts in the application as the 'current_user' is not altered when the 'session_user' is, however an attacker may be able utilize the elevated 'session_user' privileges in further attacks against the system.

This issue is reported to be addressed in the 10.0.1.14 patch set for Oracle.
